There are numerous sources of color in our world. I have long found the translucent, yet strong color of glass marbles to be a rather pure source of color. The dilemma was to find a unique way to use that color to create an art statement. The beautiful flowers of Georgia O'Keefe, one of my favorite artists, led me to the concept of interpreting one of her giant flower using glass marbles. By creating a back, lit large scale panel and then dropping the marbles in acrylic tubes, I could maintain the purity of the color and create a unique "want to touch" art piece.

The balustrades gave me a less defined subject matter within the tubes themselves but allowed me to create a watery field both by the colors of the marbles and the shape of the balustrades.
