This piece is truly about Internal Branding! In the 1980s few cell phones existed, most calls were hard wired through land lines. This piece was created for a telephone operator's facility. Telephone lines came in several identifiable colors. I used the colors of the wire for the palette. The wire was wrapped around wooden closet rod dowels. 45 miles of wire around 167 dowels of six foot lengths. The Internal Branding occurred during the installation. As you can see from the YouTube video, the space was blank except for the custom tracks installed. All of the employees who worked the center as well as executives and maintenance staff were involved in sliding the dowels one by one into the track and they were able to be a part of the "coming together" of "Wired for the High Desert" in Victorville, CA.
